Track spending with Claude and Loaf Budget
Loaf Connect gives Claude access to the Loaf records you authorize. Ask about spending, inspect the transactions behind a change, or review supported edits without copying an entire statement into a conversation.
Check your account and connector access
You need a Loaf Budget account containing records and a Claude account with access to custom remote connectors. Organization controls may require an administrator to allow the connection. Start a Plus trial in Loaf Accounts, connect a supported bank, then follow the setup below. No invitation is needed.
This page describes custom setup. It does not imply that Loaf has an approved or featured listing in Claude’s directory. Remote connectors and local desktop extensions have different setup paths; Loaf Connect uses a hosted server.
Connect through Loaf’s consent flow
Open Loaf Connect and copy the MCP server address displayed there. In Claude’s connector settings, add a custom remote connector using that address, then follow the sign-in flow to your Loaf account.
Read the access request before approving it. Enable the connector in the conversation if required by your Claude interface. If the custom connector option is missing, check the current Claude guide and your organization’s settings.
Use an evidence-first spending prompt
Start with: “Show my posted spending by merchant for September 2026.” Follow up with: “Open the transactions behind the largest total.” You can also ask Claude to compare categories across two specified months.
These questions describe past records. A balance alone does not establish what is safe to spend, and a category change does not change the original payment. Ask for the included date range and account scope when interpreting an answer.
Keep control of edits and shared results
Read access is the starting permission. Turn on supported changes separately if you want help organizing transactions, categories, tags, or monthly plans. Some edits require a separate confirmation in your AI chat. Turn editing off when you no longer need it.
Claude processes the results it requests under its own terms and privacy policy. Disconnect the app through Loaf Connect when you want to stop future access. For troubleshooting, share the error and setup step with support, without sending sign-in codes or account data.
